Our Neighborhood by the Sea

Newport Beach is the quintessential beach town with opportunities galore for enjoying our beautiful environment.  With 47 parks, 23 square miles of ocean and 800 acres of protected land at the Back Bay ecological reserve there is no limit to the outdoor fun and learning you can experience.   All of us locals in the area have our favorites, and here are a few of mine:

Biking from Balboa Pier to Huntington Pier, about 10 miles or so... . I park my car then ride and have lunch when I reach Huntington Beach at Jacks by the pier!

Joe's Crab Shack for spicey Shrimp

Charlie's Chili at Newport Pier. Been there forever, will be there forever. Great place for "after hours" chili cheese omelets (younger crowd), or great to take the family for chili, sandwiches or whatever while you are at the beach. Great Brunch too! Local hang out, not fancy at all.

The Old Spagetti Factory - oldie but goodie

Acapulco's for Mexican food. For people-watching, check out El Ranchito on the Peninnsula. Crowded, but great atmosphere.

Kayaking the harbor..Taking pictures of the beach, seagulls, waves during a storm, sunsets with Catalina on the horizon...

And, of course, the nature walks at the Upper Bay Reserve....
